About

Francesca is an emerging artist who studies Painting at the Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is currently interning at the artist-run centre, Untitled Arts Society, and also works in a frame shop. Along with that, she is a student director for a health and wellness Tai Chi group at ACAD and volunteers as an art therapist for the Alberta Children's Hospital Rheumatology clinic to help young kids process through their sicknesses.

When she was little, Fran didn't want to be an artist. it wasn't even a conscious or viable option. However, that all changed when she had 4 traumatic concussions within the span of 2 weeks in her sophomore year in high school. This experience changed the way she drew, painted, experienced colour, and -  the most important - it changed the way she saw the world.

She is currently exploring themes of the layered conscious self through painting, drawing, relations with the public - her work traverses multiple disciplines of fine art capitalizing on media manipulation. Every work right now is a small stepping stone towards making a bigger impact in the world. Her ambition drives her to promote and foster artistic culture wherever she finds herself.
